Fear Not Friday | He got away with murder.

On the discussion of fear, does it leave fear in your being when people get away with a crime?

My father killed a woman in front of me when I was three. The very act of cruelty lead me into a life of sheer and sudden terror. I was scared of everything. As I child, I had no recourse. When I grew up and married, I was with a man that I feared greatly — so I seldom spoke of anything.

I divorced at 35 and found my voice. I used it every time I could. Ya know what happened? Nothing!

I went to the cops and asked for help. While they said they found me credible, they needed a body or a confession. I could produce neither. I only had my testimony of the day the crime occurred.

Am I over it? Nope. I certainly am not. Would you be?

I read God’s word daily. Genesis 9 says, “And from each human being, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of another human being. “Whoever sheds human blood, by humans shall their blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made mankind.”

Well, my father lived out his life. He wasn’t killed, put in jail, or imprisoned in any way. Wait, or was he? Wasn’t his life a prison sentence itself? Hatred was all around him. He didn’t live with much love, grace or mercy. I know that because he gave none of it to anyone. He lived a filthy exsistence, hated daily, and ate the gluttony of his desires.

I pray often that the murdered lady could be excavated but I am resigning myself to the idea that she will just lay there for eternity – buried under a pile of rubbish — identity unknown. It breaks my heart a little each day, but I will surrender it to a God who sees, to a God that’s bigger than my heartbreak.

I release the burden into your loving hands Father. Amen.

I will keep her story alive and bear witness to the crime that took her life as long as I have breathe in my body. She mattered in life. She mattered in death.Just because a crime goes unpunished in this world, remember that justice is waiting quickly on the other side in eternity. Don’t live in fear. Eternal justice exists and wins every time.
