On the discussion of fear — ask yourself this question: “Am I afraid to stand up for myself?“
My father beat all of my rights out of me. He made sure I had only privileges given by him — no rights. These are his actual words I heard over and over, “You have no rights! Only privileges.” That has sure stayed with me.
I fear standing up for myself. I don’t do it well. In the end it makes me feel a bit like a victim and I despise feeling like a victim. So, I’m trying to learn how to stand up for myself.
Do you fear standing up for yourself?
If we are looking at ourselves *(YOU SEE YOU), I think this becomes a bit easier. What do I want? What do I need? How should I be treated and loved. These are great questions we should be asking ourselves.
Our lives should not be about the needs of others only but about our needs as well.
