On the discussion of fear, do you fear your inability to make the right decisions?
If I didn’t know that God had my back at all times, I wouldn’t be who I am. Inspite of my inability to recognize harm, to fight off bullies, to stand up for myself, God intervened in my life. He showed me the way out when I could not see the way.
My childhood had paralyzed my internal ability to speak, to ask for help, or to see life clearly. I was broken.
If I were broken, and indeed I was, why would I hold myself in contempt for not knowing better?
Far too many of us hold ourselves to a standard that – without the intervening help of a Loving Father God, we will never be able to attain. In other words, get out of your way and ask God to help. He knows what he’s doing. I know. I’ve seen him in action. When I chose badly, when I allowed abusers to abuse me, when I abused myself, his loving hand guided me to freedom.
So, I ask you again, are you holding yourself in contempt for what you are not able to do?
