UCU | Identity

Introspection is a fantastic way to start the week.

Ask yourself this question: Do I know that God sees me as an individual?

There is a mistaken identity in matters of faith. He does not look down at the world and see us as a group. He also does not look into families and see us as “part of that family.”

He sees as the individual we are.

Why does that matter?

I used to look at people for the answers. I would go to the very family that hurt me and expect that somewhere in their lineage there was help for me.

When I looked at God, I assumed he was judging me for the sins of my parents. Looking at my wholly as a part of them.

When I got into a relationship, I would judge that person intently focusing on their shortcomings because if I became one with them, I falsely believed I would be judged as them.

WRONG!

God never judges us by the actions of another. While it is true that blessings and curses can be revisited on next generations, God still sees us uniquely separate.

Isn’t that such a blessing!

When I am done with my work here on earth and I get to go to my heavenly home, God will not be asking me what my father did or what my husband did — my brother or sister. He will look at me on that day and see Jodie – me …as the individual that I am.

I am uniquely made. I am separately gifted. I get make my own choices.

He is always just looking for me. #UCU
