It Ends Well

The book A Prisoner by No Crime of My Own, The True Crime Story of a Child Witness holds accounts of childhood crimes that many of us have lived through. I hope my story helps you find your story!

Conclusion

“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children will walk in truth.”
3 John 1:4

. . .

I had the most incredible dream of my grandma El the other night. I come upon her house, which is now lived in by other people, but still owned by family. When I turn the corner leading up to her street, piles of snow billow over her barely visible lawn. When I come closer to her porch, I can see bunkers made of snow. They are the most exquisitely formed shields I have ever seen. I look up and see the delicateness of each snowflake as if the frozen wind had blown them masterfully into this design. I thanked her in my dream for her discernable protection. And, just as those snowflakes could easily be broken in their delicate way, so was my grandmother– fragile and small but full of a fierce love. She shielded me in her unique and fragile way from all that she could. I pray that this delicate but strong protection follows you.

I am in love with each new thing I learn. I am cultivating the ability to love myself despite my shortcomings. I am forever grateful to a God who didn’t walk away from me when everyone else had.

Thankful beyond measure for this journey that brought me out.

Grateful for the people whom God put in my path who helped me.

Having the courage to write this story is one of the things I am most appreciative for. I have returned to myself. Fully restored. Fully functioning and making my own mistakes now.

There’s this beautiful scripture that says: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have kept my faith.” Writing those words makes me cry. My tears recognize the battle scars and a warrior’s fatigue. My final race only finished when I get to the other side.

Until then every finish line for me just starts another race.

I remain forever hopeful.

Remember, Jesus came for the brokenhearted. He is looking for you. He needs you to see you (U C U).
