Introspection — what better way to start a week.
As I’ve walked through this healing journey for over 25 years, the common theme I found when standing up to liars was how quickly they maligned me with their critical denial.
I would be surefooted in one moment about my path forward with the truth. As soon as an abuser’s presence would block my light with their confrontation, my words and demeanor would soften — until sometimes it changed.
Why?
I knew they were lying. I knew they had abused me. I remember their cruelity but with their guided strength they sometimes shut me down.
Why do our words stammer before liars?
I’ll tell you why!
The world likes to believe an easier story than a three-year-old being raped by her father. The world predicates survival on silencing the victims of these horendous crimes.
Why?
Because they have no coping skills to even listen to such tragedy. How then are we supposed to survive?
I’ll tell you how!
Let God give you the strength to fight back. Stand up even if your knees are weak! These giants are paper dragons. Your truth rips at the very small fibers that hold them up.
